Chip Roberson, Founder

Chip has more than 20 years of experience leading organizations with a unique eye to technical scalability and efficiency. At Socialogue, in addition to sharing strategy, vision and team building, he is responsible for architecting applications and processes to serve our clients at the lowest cost and greatest value.

Chip was a member of the founding team at Cerent, which was sold to Cisco in 1999. His experience ranged from manipulating bits at the chip-level to participating in the naming of the company and helping manage the VC relationship -- a typical startup job description. He continued to work for Cisco before retiring in 2001. Overall, Chip has 20 years of experience in software and systems design engineering -- including notable efforts for DSC Communications, Alcatel Network Systems, the Virginia Remote Sensing Study, ICASE (NASA/Langley) and Data Systems Analysts -- working on everything from satellites to switches to open source software. He is currently an angel investor, corporate board member and/or adviser to a small number of companies through Carneros Ventures, LLC: Hans Plads, ZoxSoft and Terradatum.

Chip is active in local community service and organizing -- he was the Regional Field Organizer for the Obama for America presidential campaign in 2 congressional districts (8 counties) of Northern California and currently serves on the Planning Commission for the City of Sonoma, as well as advising both the Sonoma County Transit Authority and Sonoma County Board of Supervisor's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committees, and chairing the Sonoma/Springs Bicycle Festival.He is the co-founder of WiredSonoma.com, a local hub for Valley of the Moon entrepreneurs, an avid cyclist and a mentor with the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance. He holds a both a MS in Computer Science and a BS in Computer Science and Economics from the College of William and Mary. He is an adviser to the William & Mary Graduate School of Business' Entrepreneurship program and is a past trustee of the W&M Endowment.
